Lola Lavada Barnett, age 96, formerly of Amarillo passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in West Park Cemetery in Hereford, Texas. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter, Amarillo, Texas.

Lola Lavada Barnett was born in Hereford, Texas on November 21, 1917 to Alice and Ed Cox. She married James Weldon Barnett, Sr. on February 13, 1943. Lavada lived in Amarillo from 1959 to 1998 where she worked for the United States Post office for almost 20 years. She was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. Lavada loved God and her family. She was an avid painter, loved feeding and watching birds, and researching family history.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Weldon Barnett, Sr., a son James Weldon Barnett, Jr., a brother Jack Cox, a sister Alma Wallace and twin grandsons.

She is survived by her son Jerald Barnett and wife Karen of Wichita Falls; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
