John Crosbie Ahern, 74, our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away October 29, 2008. He was born December 6, 1933 to John Hannibal and Evelyn Leone Crosbie Ahern in Los Angeles, California. He attended Brigham Young University, Santa Monica City College, and Pasadena Art Center. He worked as a motion picture animator, director, and producer. His creative talents were enjoyed by many and he loved his job. He was also an Associate Professor at BYU for the Fine Arts Department in Animation. John married his sweetheart, Shirley Lynn Arnold, on December 19, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of four children, a son and three daughters. John was a wonderful husband and father, and his family has always been his first priority. He enjoyed photography, motorcross, cycling, skiing, mountain climbing, camping, and backpacking. He enjoyed life and his loving spirit will be missed greatly. John was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he served in many capacities throughout his life. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; his children, Scott Arnold Ahern, Provo, UT; Jodi Lyn Bradley, Wellington, UT; Kimberly Marie Ahern, Simi Valley, CA; and Kelly René Ahern, New Market, AL. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Lynne Engstrom, Northridge, CA; Sunny Fletcher, Pelham, NY. John was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Leone Ahern; and his father, John (Jack) Hannibal Ahern. Funeral services will be held on Mon., November 3, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Crosswinds 3rd Ward Chapel, 1660 S. 1400 E., Spanish Fork, Utah. Family and friends may attend a viewing on Mon. at the church from 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Santaquin Cemetery.
