BRIGHAM CITY - Shirley Irene Shinkle Monsen, 65, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014. Shirley was born March 30, 1948 a daughter of John LeRoy and Alice Lorraine Cheney Shinkle. She married Stephen Bruce Monsen on December 13, 1963.
She was a member of the LDS Church. Shirley enjoyed crocheting, knitting reading and watching NCIS. Enjoyed entering the world of spy and suspense through her books, picking huckleberries, camping, making quilt tops, and her life was complete with her grandchildren by her side. She was very involved with the Eagles Auxiliary, served in most office positions, as Madam President twice and was treasurer for over ten years. Mom cherished her relationship with her sisters, brothers and good friend Shar.
Surviving; Cheryl A. (Brent) Harrop of Willard, Lora L. (Walter) Quick, Eunice L. Nevling, Stephen (Pam) Monsen all of Brigham, Jenni Monsen-Hansen (CJ) of Tremonton brothers and sisters: Elaine (Jon) Mahaffey of Blanding, Andy (Gail) Shinkle of Brigham City, Janis (Scott) Stanger of Salt Lake, Norman Shinkle, and Colleen Wright Shinkle, sister-in-law of Blanding. Preceded in death by parents, brother Jonny Dee and son John Ferris
Funeral services will be Friday, January 24, 2014 at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City. Friends may call Thursday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday 10: to10:45 a.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will be in the Corinne Cemetery.
