Mrs. Catherine Staudt, nee Stein, aged 88 and for over sixty years a resident of
Manitowoc county, died at her home in Kossuth yesterday. In spite of her advanced
age, Mrs. Staudt actively engaged in the work about her home and in social life.
The deceased was a member of the St. Ann's Society of Francis Creek and took
a prominent part in the Society's work.
Deceased was born in Germany on February 2, 1837 and came to this country at the
age of seventeen, direct to Wisconsin where she made her home. In 1855 she was married
to Michael Staudt and ten children were born to the couple, seven of whom survive. Her
husband passed away some forty years ago. Besides the seven children she is also
survived by 33 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. The children surviving are,
Mrs. F.W. Meyer and Mrs. Joseph Buehler, both of Manitowoc; Mrs. W.F. Lang of
Clintonville; Sister M. Euphemia, Chewala, Washington; Mathew of Lisbon, North
Dakota; Michael of Kossuth and Peter of Elkhart, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held Monday at Francis Creek and will be buried there,
Father Schiller officiating.
