Avenell Gabbard, age 92 of W. Harrison, IN passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 at Hospice of Cincinnati in Western Hills. Born April 9, 1921 in Lee County, KY she was the daughter of Jess & Lucey (Farmer) Fields. She married Rufford Gabbard on December 22, 1937. She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church.

Avenell is survived by her children Emma Faye (Ronald) Bennett; Wilma Carol (Ronald) Gaustad, Hazel Lewis, Bill (Donna) Gabbard, Annetta Edmonds & Karen (Tom) Marting. She will also be missed by her 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and her sister Rosaline Maloney. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers George, Lonnie, Charles & Orear Gabbard.

Visitation will be Monday, January 20, 2014 from 6-8pm at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 11:00am at Smyrna Baptist Church in New Trenton, IN with Pastor Chuck McMahan officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Cemetery in Harrison, OH. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Cincinnati c/o the funeral home.
