Kentucky New Era obit posted 04 Oct 1968 reads as follows:

John David Alexander, Sr., 68, of Bowling Green, died at the Warren County Hospital Thursday night following a brief illness.

Services will be held at 10am Saturday at the Bowling Green Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Phillip Bembower officiating. Burial will follow in East End Cemetery at Cadiz. The body is at the J.C. Kirby Funeral Home in Bowling Green.

A native of Trigg County, Mr. Alexander was the son of the late Gordon and Henrietta Smith Alexander. He was a retired employee of the Federal Land Bank, director of the Neighborhood Youth Corps in Bowling Green, graduate of the University of Kentucky, veteran of World War I and trustee of the Bowling Green Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Agnes McKinnon; one son, John David, Jr., Memphis, Tenn., president of Southwestern College; one daughter, Mrs. Jane Biedenharm, Ft. Pierce, Fla.; three brothers, Otis Alexander, Louisville, Preston Alexander, Cadiz, and H. Alton Alexander, Van, Tex.; one sister, Mrs. Allen Lawrence, Trigg County. and five grandchildren.
