Beth Ellen Bost Nix, native of Starkville MS, joined the choir of angels in heaven on the 16th of January in the year of our Lord 2014.
Beth's joyous spirit came into the world on the 17th of January, 1950 as the 3rd child of 7 born to the honorable Dr. William Bost and Mrs. Elaine Fields Bost of Starkville, MS.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Michael Nix, sons Blake and Cameron, 6 grandchildren, 6 siblings and Dr. and Mrs. Bost. Her love of children led Beth to pursue a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education, which she earned from Mississippi State University in 1972. Following graduation, Beth became a beloved 3rd grade teacher at Starkville Academy in Starkville, MS, and later in Vicksburg, MS.
She also shared her passion for music by teaching piano in her home throughout her life. As testament to her lifelong devotion to the United Methodist Church, Beth pursued graduate studies at Southern Methodist University where she was conferred an advanced degree in Diaconal Ministry of Music.
She served the church in numerous capacities, including Youth and Choir Director at Aldersgate Methodist Church in Starkville, MS; Choir Director at Hawkins Street Methodist Church in Vicksburg, MS; Diaconal Minister of Music at Latham Methodist Church and Aldersgate Methodist Church, where she later was ordained as a Deacon, both in Huntsville AL.
Services were held at Huntsville's Latham United Methodist Church on Saturday, 18 January.
