Centenarian, Lucille A. Wingate, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Heritage of Bel Air, Norfolk, Nebraska. Lucille was born on May 2, 1913 to Albert and Agnes (Weinemann) Fischer in Brunswick, Nebraska.

Lucille graduated with the class of 1932 from Plainview (NE.) High School. After graduating from high school she attended normal training to become a teacher. She taught for several years at a country school between Brunswick and Plainview, Nebraska. On June 26, 1934 she was united in marriage to Joseph Hladovcak at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Brunswick, Nebraska. They farmed south of Brunswick, Nebraska until 1950 when they moved to Neligh, Nebraska. They were blessed with two daughters, Marguerite (Dillon) and Betty Jane Froehlich. They continued to farm by Oakdale, Nebraska until 1960 when Joe died.

Lucille loved to work outside in her gardens and with Joe. She was interested in farm life. Family and social gatherings were her hobbies.

Lucille married Munsey Wingate on December 28, 1967. They enjoyed over 25 years of traveling, dancing, and gardening. Munsey died in 1993. Lucille worked at Bernita's Cafe for more than 20 years in Neligh, Nebraska. She thrived on her relationships with the customers.

In 2008 Lucille moved to Norfolk, Nebraska to be closer to family. She has resided at The Meadows and then Heritage of Bel Air since she had a stroke in 2012.

Lucille's positive attitude and love of life, backed by her faith, gave her 100 years of joy. She lived each day to the fullest. Her grandchildren kept her young. She had a quick wit and sharp mind.

Lucille was a member of the Neligh Chapter of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 60 years, St. Francis Ladies Guild, Antelope Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and a farm extension club.

Lucille is survived by: daughter, Betty Jane and husband Virgil Froehlich of Norfolk, Ne.; step-son, Skip and wife Marilyn Wingate of Norfolk. Ne.; 10 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Lucille is preceded in death by: husbands, Joe Hladovcak and Munsey Wingate; brother, Kenneth Fischer and wife, Jewell, daughter, Marguerite Ann Dillon and her husband Cliff.

Funeral services for Centenarian, Lucille Wingate, were at 10:00 am, Monday, January 20, 2014 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Neligh, Nebraska with Father John Broheimer, as officiator.

Burial was in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Neligh, Nebraska.
