He was a service technician for Motor Electric in Elkhart, Indiana. Mike felt very blessed for the compassion that they extended to him and his family that went beyond that of merely employer/employee.
Michael is survived by his wife Debbra Shay of Vandalia; one daughter, Amy (Brandon) Balentine of Schoolcraft; one son, Jonathan (Michelle) Shay stationed in Shreveport, Louisiana; four grandchildren, Luke and Mason Balentine, Lyla Carlson, and Isabelle Shay; three brothers, Guy (DoraLee) Shay of Denver, Colorado, Robert Shay of Cassopolis, and Timothy (Susan) Shay of Mishawaka, Indiana; and four sisters, Kathleen Moreland, Laureen Shay, both of Elkhart, Indiana, Colleen (Nick) Nickerson of LaPorte, Indiana, and Kristine (Axel) Hasto of Montrose, California.
Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Saint Ann Catholic Church, 313 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis from 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Father Donald G. Potts officiating. Interment will follow in Shavehead Cemetery, Porter Township.
