Born on June 22, 1934, in Spring Grove, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Dorothy H. (Shue) Spangler. Charles was a 1954 graduate of William Penn Senior High School in York. Mr. Spangler owned and operated C.A. Spangler Boards, Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of small games of chance.
Mr. Spangler was a U.S. Army Engineer, Specialist 4th Class, for two years and was stationed in the Ryuku Islands. Mr. Spangler was a member of many social clubs and organizations in York, Adams and Lancaster and was a life member of many in York. Charles enjoyed blue grass music and played many instruments. Along with his wife, Barbara, Mr. Spangler is survived by two daughters, Teresa L. Rufo and her husband, Dean of Seven Valleys and Christina M. St. Louis and her husband, Thomas of Cape Vincent, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Nathan, Hannah, Laura and Steven; two brothers, Ralph Spangler and his wife, Geri of King of Prussia and Allen Spangler and his wife, Pat of York; one sister, Lucy Ellen Abel and her husband, David of York; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Harry and Ronald Spangler; and two sisters, Dorothy G. Miller and Sue Ann Gohn.
