Obituary for Michael J. Cvetkovich

Michael J. Cvetkovich, 87 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Mercy Memorial Hospital.

Born December 10, 1926 in Monroe, Michael was the son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Oklish) Cvetkovich. Mike attended Monroe Public Schools and was a 1945 graduate of Monroe High School.

On June 15, 1985 Mike married his beloved wife, Judy A. Thompson at the First Presbyterian Church in Monroe.

Mike served his country honorably and proudly during WWII as a Private First Class in the United States Army Air Corps as a military policeman. For his service Mike received the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal in Germany.

Mike was employed as a millwright for Ford Motor Company in Monroe where he worked for 27 years and retired on January 1, 1988.

Mike was a member of the Monroe Rifle and Pistol Club, River Raisin Wood Carvers and the YMCA. Mike always kept very active and was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed flying his airplane, hunting, fishing and his dog Ginger that passed away. More than anything Mike loved and enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Judy, three loving children: Mark C. Cvetkovich of Monroe, Michelle "Micki" L. Cvetkovich of Monroe and Marcia S. Redford of Lexington, KY., two step children: Randy Payne of Speedwell, TN and Janell Payne of St. Cloud, FL, eight cherished grandchildren and eleven treasured great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his first wife M. Darlene (Russell) Cvetkovich on January 12, 1983, two sisters and a brother.

In keeping with Mike's wishes visitation and services will be private and he will be interred at Roselawn Memorial Park.

The Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161 is assisting Mike's family with funeral arrangements.
