George J. Dobson, Galesburg Chapel 77, of Galesburg, died at 3:38 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014 at home.
He was born April 3, 1936 in Monmouth, the son of Arthur W. "Bill" and Pauline E. (Murrell) Dobson. He married Sylvia M. Sargeant on August 7, 1957 in East Galesburg. She preceded him in death October 4, 2010.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan Dobson of East Galesburg and two grandchildren, Miranda Perry and Jordan Perry. His parents and a sister also preceded him in death.
George worked for the former Admiral/Magic Chef/Maytag Corporation for 30 years and also for Gunther Construction Company for 16 years. He retired in 1994. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. George enjoyed racing and fishing.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to George's caregiver, Joy and her daughter, Jackie; his niece, Debbie; and hospice nurse and special caregiver, Patty.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at East Linwood Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Tom Larsen will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Harbor Light Hospice.
