Betty was born on January 9, 1928 in Dallas TX to Levi Frank Harper and Mary Elizabeth Curtis Harper; both parents preceded her in death.
On November 15, 1947 Betty married E.P. Messick in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He also preceded her in death.
Betty is survived by two sons and a daughter Phil Messick and wife Marsha of Las Cruces, NM, Jim Messick of Roswell, Jeannie Rodgers and husband Mark of Dexter; grandchildren Alison Messick Pastrana and husband Vidal of San Antonio, TX, Drew Rodgers of Dexter, Dani Rodgers Pirtle and husband Aaron of Roswell, Jesse Messick and wife Sheena of Roswell; great grandchildren Paige Pirtle, Marshal and Jasper Messick all of Roswell. Betty is also survived by one brother Larry Harper and wife Snookie of El Paso, TX
Betty graduated from high school in Dallas, TX and attended college at New Mexico A&M. She worked at Sears and Roebuck as a cashier and later worked at Dexter Schools in the migrant program. Betty loved flowers and gardening and was active in Garden Club for many years. She and E.P. built a cabin in Alpine, AZ and enjoyed their retirement years fishing and watching wildlife in the White Mountains. She was a member of Dexter United Methodist Church.
