Kenneth Wayne Humphries, 69, of Grottoes, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 at Sentara-Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Kenneth was born in Harrisonburg, on July 17, 1944, a son of the late George Humphries and Marion (Hall) Hudlow.
He retired from Shreckhise Nursery in Grottoes and also served in the U.S. Army.
On June 21, 1968 he was united in marriage to Carolyn (Harris) Humphries who survives.
Kenneth is also survived by a sister, Sandra Beadles, of Waynesboro; two brothers, Henry Humphries, of Waynesboro and Billy Humphries, of Texas; two grandchildren Steven and Brianna Humphries both of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by a son Kenneth Humphries, Jr.; a sister Janet Lawson; and special family Catherine and Owen Winegard.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Service in Grottoes on Monday, January 13, 2014 with Pastor Wayne Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home or may call at the Humphries home at any time.
