Army Pfc. Ramsey was assigned to the 933rd Military Police Company, U.S. Army National Guard, Chicago, Illinois. Ramsey was part of a convoy escort mission in Tallil Air Base when the vehicle he was in rolled over during a chase of a suspicious vehicle and fatally injured him. Brandon graduated in 2000 from Thornton Fractional North High School in Calumet City where he played football and basketball. He joined the Guard in July 2001 and was called up in May. He left behind a job at a Ford dealership. Brandon was a talented artist who had become a part-time soldier to pay for a planned college education. He loved to paint, and he loved to write and record rap music.
