Mrs. Mary (Baxter) Poole, widow of Andrew J. Poole, died in her home Saturday, death due to infirmities of years. For the past 38 years the home had been where she died.
Mrs. Poole was a daughter of William and Catherine (Albaugh) Baxter and was born December 17, 1838, on the farm just north of Carrollton now owned by Frank True, formerly the McCort homestead. Her marriage with Mr. Poole was solemnized in July 1864. Of the marriage union four sons were born, three dying in infancy, Sam Poole, of the hardware firm of Poole & McLaughlin being the youngest child. Beside the son, one brother, Will J. Baxter, and two sister, Miss Edith Baxter and Mrs. Levi Westfall, survive.
Deceased was long identified with Trinity Reformed Church, the husband, too, having been a member. Mr. Poole died in July, 1899, during the first pastorate in Carrollton of Rev. G. H. Souder, he conducting funeral service. Mr. Souder also had charge of the service for Mrs. Poole, this on Monday, the body being laid to repose by the side of the husband in Grandview Cemetery.
