Jasper "Bill" Comeaux, 72, died Monday, November 14, 2005, at an Abilene medical center. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with Rev. Stan Allcorn officiating. Burial will follow in Drummond Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Born in Lawtell, Louisiana on January 31, 1933, Bill was the son of Carita and Sydney Comeaux, and for over 30 years had been a resident of Abilene. Following retirement from the U. S. Air Force after a 20-year career, Bill worked in security for OSI, and retired from West Texas Utilities.
Bill was a member of the Catholic Church. He loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids; tending his cows, playing the guitar, watching basketball, reading western books and enjoying sun tea.
His parents and a sister, Lucy Barousse, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Miller Comeaux, whom he married in Abilene on May 10, 1980, at the home of Margie, a niece. Bill is also survived by a stepson, Alan Miller and wife, Catherine, of Abilene; a daughter, Sharon Weeks and husband, Roger, of Weatherford, Texas; a sister, Emma Tomlinson of Melrose, Florida; six grandchildren, Lacy, John, Amy, Seth, Tracy, and Randy; and five great-grandchildren, Ashton, "Bubba", Ayden, Hayden, and Skylee.
