BOTKIN, Cecil Alexander Jr., 82, husband of Darlene R. Snyder Botkin for 60 years, passed away Sun., Nov.6, 2005 in Nicholasville, Ky.

He was born in Durango, CO, to the late Cecil A. Sr. and Georgia Mae (Givens) Botkin.

Mr. Botkin graduated from Lebo High School in Lebo, KS and served in the US Navy from 1942 until 1945 on the USS Monrovia. He attended Kansas University, and served as a Kansas State Highway Patrol from 1949 until his retirement in 1981. He was instrumental in developing the first State driver's license examination and drivers test. Following his retirement he was employed by the Emporia State University Police and Safety Department until his final retirement in 1987. He enjoyed traveling and other activities and 1995 he and his wife moved to Kentucky.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Darla Botkin (O'Neal Weeks), of Georgetown, Janice Gay (Mike) Younkin of Junction City, KS, Janet Kay (Steve) Meissen of Fayetteville, GA; grandchildren Brian and Amy Meissen,Erin (Phillip) Younkin Kaberline and Kyle Younkin.

He was preceded in death by his brother Merle Botkin; sister Thelma Botkin.

Graveside service will be held Wed. 11 am at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Arrangements by Pruitt Funeral Home. The family request no flowers and that memorial gifts be sent to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.
