Writer. Neal Barrett, Jr. was an author whose books consisted of fantasy, science fiction, mystery, suspense, and historical fiction. During the course of nearly 50 years he published over 50 novels and numerous short stories.
He made his first short story sales to Galaxy and Amazing magazines in 1959. During the 1970s he began writing the Aldair series. However, it was during the 1980s that he became widely known due to the release of his books Through Darkest America, Dawn's Uncertain Light, and The Hereafter Gang.
He was chosen as Author Emeritus in 2010 by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America.
A celebration in his honor will be held on Sunday, February 9 at noon at Juniper Hills Farm near Dripping Springs, Texas.
