Andres DeMayo left this life two days before Christmas - Dec. 23, 2012. Age 95, he passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, less than two months after losing his beloved wife of 69 years, Saturnina Acosta DeMayo.

Andres was born in Camiling, Tarlac, Philippines. He served as a Philippine Scout under the U.S. Army during World War II and was a survivor of the Bataan Death March. Andres, the patriarch of the DeMayo family, was the first of his family to immigrate to the United States in 1956. He retired from Mare Island Naval Shipyard in 1974 as a foreman in Shop 56. He then worked with CalTrans retiring in 1989.

In addition to his wife, Andres was preceded in death by his son, David. He is survived by his children, Rosa Subillaga of Delano, CA, Andre (Narnita) DeMayo of Palmdale, CA, Felicitas (Camilo) Abreu, Senita Alegado, Sonia (Rod) Damaso, Jr. and Arles (Rosalina) DeMayo of Vallejo, CA. He was blessed with fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Visitation and a Vigil were held Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Colonial Chapels, 1000 Redwood St., Vallejo. A Mass of Christian burial was held the next day at St. Basil The Great Catholic Church, followed by burial with full military honors at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.
