Texas Coaster, May 28, 1953:

Hugo Kraft, Sr., 53, of Damon, a Fort Bend County farmer and rancher for many years, died last Thursday while enroute to the hospital. Funeral services were held at the Garmany-Heartfield Funeral Chapel in Needville at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, and at the First Lutheran Church in Damon at 2:30 p.m. Burial was in the Guy Public Cemetery at Guy.

Mr. Kraft was born January 28, 1900 at Crane's Mill in Comal County. He came to Fort Bend County, and in February of 1921 he married Miss Ella Meyer, daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Charlie Meyer, Sr. In 1928, he was confirmed in the First English Lutheran Church in the Woodrow community where he lived.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella Meyer Kraft of Damon; two sons, Hugo Kraft Jr. and Hilbert Kraft, both of Damon; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Mahlmann of Richmond and Mrs. Ella Mae Seiler of Rosenberg; four grandchildren, Suzanne Kraft, Kathryn Kraft, Pamela Mahlmann, and Sharon Seiler; three sisters Mrs. Freda Schwerdtfeger, Mrs. Edwin Meckel, and Mrs. Otto Elsworth, all of New Braunfels; three brothers, Alfred, Frank, and Edwin, all of New Braunfels; and his stepmother, Mrs. Minnie Kraft.

Pallbearers were Clarence Meyer, Leonard Meyer, Edwin Stuhrenberg, Roman Kraft, Goswin Kraft, and Helmuth Kraft.
