Comanche - WALTER BROWNING CARTER, 80, of Comanche, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1993, in a Duncan hospital.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Meridian First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Duckworth officiating. Burial will be in Comanche's Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Morehead-Goetz Funeral Home in Comanche.
Mr. Carter was born Dec. 31, 1912, in Comanche to Walter Reed and Bertie Shannon Carter. He had been an employee of Stephens County, retiring in 1977. He was a member of Meridian First Baptist Church.
On Oct. 8, 1932, he married Allie "Sis" Headrick at D.C. Station in the Meridian community.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, W.L. "Buzz" and Lee Ann Carter of Comanche; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deloris and J.P. Branch of Muskogee and Gearldine and Keith Howard of Oklahomam City; two sisters, Tommie Montgomery and Eula Mae Taylor, both of Duncan; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Danny Branch, Scott Howard, Bob Krueger, Kelley Brown, Joe Bud Jones and Sam Dunn.
Honorary bearers will be Robert McEntire, Harvey Ross, David Russell, Raymond Taylor and Tommy Montgomery.
