WELLS, Vt., and GRANVILLE — Neil Roberts, 83, of Wells, Vt., passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Glens Falls Hospital after a brief illness.

Born Oct. 10, 1930, in Granville, he was the son of Clifford and Viola Roberts.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marilyn Micich.

Neil graduated from Granville High School and pursued a career at Western Electric in Albany.

For more than 42 years, Neil enjoyed traveling the Adirondack region, installing and troubleshooting phone systems.

Neil also served for many years in the Armored Unit of the National Guard Reserves.

Returning to Wells, Vt., after his retirement, Neil was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed his favorite pastimes of fishing and hunting with his friends.

Like all outdoorsman, he also enjoyed telling stories, embellishing on the size of his catch and game. In the summer, he could be found on Lake St. Catherine, casting for his next big story. In the fall, he would test his skills tracking deer.

The Rite of Committal will be in the spring at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Middle Granville for family members.

Arrangements are under the direction of Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville.
