Jerry's obituary (Bradshawfuneral.com)--
Dr. Jerald Clayton Anderson
Beloved Husband, Dad, and Grandpa
Age 79, of Stillwater (Formally of North Branch, MN)
Died peacefully in his sleep January 7, 2014 at Boutwells Landing in Oak Park Heights.
Jerald was born at home April 2nd, 1934 to Clayton & Evelyn (Nelson) Anderson in Sunrise, MN. He attended North Branch High School where he excelled at academics and sports including football and basketball. After high school he attended college and received his Bachelors of Science and Doctorate of Dentistry from the Univ. of MN. During his college years he worked at the North Branch Dairy Queen which his father owned. While attending Dairy Queen School, he met the love of his life, Patsy Ann Young. They were married on June 30th, 1957. After college he enlisted in the Army and became a Captain stationed at Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn, NY. In 1963, he returned to North Branch to practice family dentistry. Throughout the years, no matter the circumstances, Jerry always evaluated everyone's teeth. In 1970, he was elected into the Minnesota Legislature. He served 10 years in the Senate chairing the Education Finance, Energy and Housing, and Natural Resources committees at various times. His contributions include authoring the bill bringing the Saint Croix Wild River State Park into existence. The bill provided for a "wild river state park which shall be managed to preserve, perpetuate and interpret the natural features of the pre-settlement era and other significant natural features that were present." In 1981 he co-founded a National Charter Bank in North Branch bringing Community National Bank to the growing area. He served as chairman of the board until 1993 when he retired. Jerald enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, wintering in Sun City West, AZ, and summering at the beloved family cabin in Northern Wisconsin. During his years in Sun City West he was an active member of the Vasa Order of America and the University of Minnesota Alumni Association in Arizona serving as Treasurer and President for each group respectively. He was an avid golfer and card player. No one played the game of 500 quite like Jerry. The family wishes to thank the staff at Boutwells Landing and the many friends who offered their support and care to Jerry over the past months.
Survived by his wife, Patsy; sons, Jeffrey (Janie), Brent (Carin), Patrick (Angie); grandchildren, Nathaniel, Eli, Owen, Emily, Matthew; brothers, Quentin (Mary), Clennan (Judy); and adopted sisters, Roberta Collins, and Rosemary (Richard) Petty along with many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
