Age 101 of North Branch, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2011. He was born in North Branch on October 22, 1910, the son of Ed and Annie (Bergdahl) Anderson. He graduated from North Branch High School and also attended the University of Minnesota.

During his teen years he sold meat door to door from his father's butcher shop and later opened a general grocery store in Sunrise with his wife of 70 years, Evelyn (Nelson). They survived the depression and then moved to North Branch where they purchased the Family Fairway Food Store. Clayton enlisted in the Navy during WWII where he served in Corpus Christi, Texas. After being discharged from the Navy, he was involved with construction and then purchased the Ford Dealership in North Branch.

Clayton was very committed to the community which involved civic, philanthropic, and social concerns, the Boy Scouts, Red Cross, Masonic Lodge, American Legion, The North Branch Schools, The Villages of Branch/North Branch and The Senior Care Facilities at Green Acres and The Villages of North Branch (Ecumen), annually donated pumpkins to the North Branch Elementary School Children were just some of the areas in which he donated his time and energy. His legacy as a civic organizer, businessman, and a regional historian will endure.

He is survived by 3 sons: Jerald (Patsy) Anderson of Oak Park Heights, MN; Quentin (Mary) Anderson of Golden Valley, MN; and Clennan (Judy) Anderson of Eau Claire, WI; 2 adotpted daughters Rosemary (Dick) Petty of Wayzata, MN; and Roberta Collins of White Bear Lake, MN; nine grandchildren; brother Phil (Clarice) Anderson and sister Bernice. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Evelyn; his brothers Donald and Charles; and sisters Lido and Norma.

Spring Lake Lutheran Church, St. Jude Hospice, Ecumen, or the charity of the donor's choice.

Visitation:
Visitation 5–8 p.m. Friday at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch and one hour prior to service at the church.

Service:
Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Spring Lake Lutheran Church.

Cemetery:
Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery in North Branch.
