From the St. Paul (Nebraska) Republican, August 13, 1903, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney:
Death of Aged Mother -
William Waggoner of Fairdale precinct was called to his old home in Colfax, Iowa, the first of the week to attend the funeral of his mother. Mr. Waggoner has accomplished the unusual feat of raising a family of grown children during the lifetime of his own parents, his father still surviving.
The mother was 82 years old at the time of her death. Mr. Waggoner had intended visiting them this fall but the grim reaper frustrated his plans. He will be unable to take part in the farmers' institute program Saturday on account of the unexpected summons.
