Alfred "Fred" Ruel, son of Germain Ruel and Julie Roy, was baptized on 13 May 1860 at Saint Ferdinand in Halifax, Mégantic, Québec, Canada. He immigrated to the United States about 1889 and, on 21 Sep 1890, married Dora Alice Carrier, daughter of Joseph Carrier and Marie Nolet Begin, in Somersworth, Strafford, New Hampshire. The couple raised their sixteen children in Somersworth. Fred died at age 79 and was interred in Mount Calvary Cemetery on 23 Apr 1940.
