OBITUARY :
MRS. ESTHER N. BROWN, 73, of Highfield, died at 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, in the Waynesboro Hospital. She was admitted to the hospital Friday morning after suffering a heart attack.
Born Feb.1, 1912 in Edgemont, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Clara Susan (Ott) Cool. Her early life was lived in Edgemont.
She and her husband, Upton L. Brown, Sr., had lived in Highfield since their marriage in 1936.
Her husband died in July, 1967.
She was a member of St. Rita's Roman Catholic Church, Blue Ridge Summit. She was also a member of the PCCW of the church.
She is survived by four children, Charles Brown, Alexandria, Va.; Miss Barbara Brown and Miss Donna Brown, both at home, and Upton L. Brown, Jr., Smithsburg; two grandchildren; and these brothers and sisters: Oliver Cool, Mrs. Mary Sigler and Murray Cool, all of Smithsburg, and Maurice Cool, Waynesboro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Rita's Roman Catholic Church by the Rev.Joseph Fennessy. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Waynesboro.
Friends may call at th e Grove Funeral Home on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
