Elvira M. Freise, 97 of Union, IL passed away Tuesday Jan. 7, 2014, at Florence Nursing Home Marengo. She was born on Dec. 2, 1916, in Schaumburg, IL to William and Alma (Nebal) Heide. On June 26, 1935 in Schaumburg she married Henry H. Freise. For 50 years she was proprietor of Freise's Country Market in Union, IL. Elvira is survived by a daughter, Lois Reiser; a son, Donald Freise Sr.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 46 years, Henry; two sons, Kenneth G. and Henry W. Freise; her sister, Evelyn Hartman; a son-in-law, Floyd Reiser; a daughter-in-law, Jane Freise; a grandchild, Debbie Freise; and a great-grandson, Gabriel Joseph Freise. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 PM Sunday, Jan. 12, at Zion Lutheran Church, 416 Jackson St., Marengo, IL 60152 and from 10 AM Monday until the time of service at 11 AM. Interment will be at McHenry County Memorial Park Woodstock. Memorials may be made in her name to Zion Lutheran Church or Journey Care Hospice, 527 W. South St. Woodstock, IL 60098.
