"ROSES SHE LOVED COVERED CASKET
Flowers among which Mrs. Madeline Gibbs Murphey lived were not wanting Monday afternoon when her funeral services were held in the home, W2424 Second. The rose-covered casket reposed in the sunroom from which room in life she could view her beautiful garden. The room was banked with blooms of many kinds and colors.
Old friends and new filled the rooms of the home during the reading of the Episcopal service by the Very Rev. Charles E. McAllister, dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. The recitation of the creed and the Lord's prayer were led by the Rt. Rev. Edward M. Cross, bishop of Spokane. He also pronounced the benediction. Bishop Cross had charge of the committal service at the grave in Greenwood.
Mrs. Murphey died at the family home Saturday following a week's illness from heart trouble. She was the wife of Alonzo M. Murphey, chairman of the Murphey-Favre company, and a Spokane pioneer."
