Marion Samuel "Sam" Allen, 84, of Summersville passed away on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, after an extended illness.
Born Dec. 9, 1923, in Widen, Clay County, he was a son of the late John Samuel and Lottie Teresa Rodgers Allen. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Delma Samples Allen, and a brother, Eugene "Moe" Allen.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Summersville, Masonic Blue Lodge 126, Ripley, and Nemesis Shrine, Clarksburg, and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was retired from LeRose Motors and had served as an assistant administrator of Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, and as administrator of Calhoun General Hospital. He had served on the West Virginia Nursing Advisory Board and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his daughters and their husbands, Kaye and David Hamric of Elkview and Anna Lou and Jerry Rucker of Falling Rock; sons and their wives, Harold J. and Nancy of Gilbert, Ariz., Gordon L. and Jody of Lancaster, Pa., and Roger D. and Amanda of Salado, Texas; sister, Kathleen Rollyson of Eleanor; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one stepgreat-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at White Funeral Home, Summersville, with the Rev. James Crouch officiating. Interment will follow in Walker Memorial Park, Summersville.
