He was born September 28, 1921, in Sparkman. He attended school in Princeton but left to start his own logging business. He later joined the army and served during World War II at Normandy as a medic and was awarded a Purple Heart. He retired from Reynolds Mining at Bauxite after 32 years. He also served as deacon at Mt. Paron Primitive Baptist Church in Bucksnort.
Jud was the second son of the late Judson Edward Hearne and the late Bertha Mae Gill-Hearne. He was named after his dad, the late Judson Edward Hearne and his maternal grandfather, the late George Albert Gill. He was also preceded in death by brothers: Cecil R. Hearne, Raymond A. Hearne and Billy Dale Hearne; and by sister, Eddie Mae Hearne-Benton-Lowe.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia Johnson Hearne; daughter, Janelle Engelkes of Benton ; son, L.E. Dustin Hearne of North Little Rock; brother, Marlin Hearne of Fordyce; three sisters, Alamerle Raney, Evelyn Gwin and Jeannie Hardman, all of Fordyce; five grandchildren, Julie Gladden, Courtney McCown, Gregory Dustin Hearne, Kelly Hearne and Drew Hearne; three great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
