The News-Herald, Thursday, Apr 9 1981:
Mrs. Hannah G. DeWoody, 72, of Polk RD 1, died at 3:45 a m. today in the Franklin Hospital where she was admitted April 6. A daughter of Herbert J. and Mary Elsbury Cross, she was born in Pittsburgh March 21, 1909.

She spent her early life in the Pittsburgh area, moving to Pearl at the age of 9, attended schools at Bullion, graduated from Wesley High School in 1925, worked at Polk Center for several years and later operated her own restaurant on Buffalo Street across from the General Manifold plant. An active member of the Hickory Grove Church of God, she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Gass and had served as treasurer of the Sunday School for many years. She also belonged to the Women's Christian Service Council of the church, was a member of Nursery Chapter 25, Order of Eastern Star, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Franklin Commandery 44, Knights Templar, and the Clintonville Women's Club.

She was married to Paul A. DeWoody Dec. 19, 1928 and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary two years ago.

Surviving along with her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Robert C. (Edith) McBryar of Saegertown; and Mrs. William C. (Marilyn) Moffitt of Franklin; two sons, David P. DeWoody of Hopewell Junction, NY, and Robert E. DeWoody of Franklin; 17 grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren; three brothers, Charles N. and George T. Cross, both of Franklin, and Ernest H. Cross of Pine Hill, NC; a sister, Mrs. Ned (Minnie) Melat of Polk, and several nieces and nephews. A granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth DeWoody; two brothers, James and John Cross, and a sister, Mrs. Elmer L. (Edith) Davis, are deceased.

Services will be in the Huff Chapel with Rev. William D. Rodahaver, pastor of the Hickory Grove Church of God, officiating. Interment will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
