Franklin News-Herald, Monday, Jul 19 1982:
Mrs. Amanda I. Melat, 79, of Pearl, Polk RD 1, died at 10:20 p.m. Sunday in Franklin Hospital following an extended illness. Born in the Green Wood section of Pittsburgh on Jan. 23, 1903, she was a daughter of Herbert John and Amanda E. Fisher Cross.

She attended schools in Green Wood and Bullion, graduated from Wesley High School, and attended the Slippery Rock Prep School. She lived in the Pearl area most of her life, was a member of the Pleasantview United Methodist Church, and the Sunday School classes of the church.

In 1923, she married to Earl C. Keverline, who died in 1937. In 1949 she married Neal B. Melat, who died in 1950.

Surviving are four children, Mrs. Willard (Julia Elizabeth) Phipps and Kenneth Herbert Keverline, both of Pearl, Daniel Earl Keverline of Kennerdell and Thomas Richard Keverline of Franklin; a stepson, Homer Melat of Goodells, MI; three brothers, Charles N. and George T. Cross, both of Franklin, and Ernest H. Cross of Pink Hill, NC; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Services will be at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home with Rev. Rico J. Vespa, pastor of the Pleasantview United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
