J. S. Franklin, 95, dies at home of daughter
Came to Midland county in 1880; was well known throughout vicinity; funeral set for Monday
John S. Franklin, 95, died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Ben Cook, 316 West Larkin street at 1:30 p.m. yesterday.
Well known throughout the county he was director of Poseyville school in Ingersoll for 18 years.
Funeral services will be held at the Cook residence at 2:30 p.m. Monday with Rev. R. R. Feuell of the Methodist Episcopal church officiating. Burial will be made at the Midland cemetery.
Mr. Franklin was born in the province of Quebec, Canada, January 24, 1843. He was married in Canada, and came to Midland county in 1880. He lived in Ingersoll township 28 years, having moved to Midland in 1907. His wife died in 1909.
He came to live with his daughter, Mrs. Cook in 1914 and has made his home with her for 24 years.
He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Maria Gordon of Detroit and one son Andrew Franklin of Charlotte.
One grand child survives: Mrs. Claude Doil, one brother A. J. Franklin of Poseyville, two great-grandchildren and many niece's and nephew's.
