Marshall Gainor, aged 75, of 832 13th Ave. W., died Friday at his residence. Born in Ingersoll, he came to Calgary with his bride in 1892, and had lived here since that time. Plans had been made for the pioneer couple to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary September 14. Mr. Gainor was a member of the Southern Alberta Oldtimers' and Pioneers' Association, and had installed the first street mail boxes in Calgary. He also held all the mail contracts in the city for a period of 20 years. Surviving are his wife, Catherine, Calgary; five sons, Fred, overseas for the past two years; Major Howard Gainor, recruiting officer for M.D. 13; George, in California; Norman, Vancouver; and Ross, in the Canadian Army; three daughters, Edna, Calgary; Mrs. Russell Lane, Calgary; and Mrs. Harry Loder, Banff; also 10 grandchildren. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian church and one of the original congregation of 11 at the opening service in St. Paul's Presbyterian church, in 1907. Funeral services will be conducted at Leyden's chapel on Monday at 2 o'clock with Rev. A.C. Wishart and Rev. Alfred Bright officiating. Interment will be in the family plot, Union cemetery.
