Raymond J. Day, 85, of Florence, Indiana, passed away November 28, 2013 at his residence, after a valiant battle with cancer. Raymond was born on October 17, 1928 in Menifee County, Kentucky to Ash and Grace Knowland Day. On October 26, 1957 Raymond married Mary Swango in Bright, Indiana and she survives.
He served his country in the United States Army, and retired after 39 years of employment at Anchor Glass. Raymond devoted his life to family, especially his wife, and enjoyed gardening and fishing in his spare time.
Left to honor Raymond's memory is his wife of 56 years, Mary L. Day; son: Gary W. (Tina M.) Day of Florence, Indiana; grandsons: Gregory W. (Kaysea) Day, and Adam S. Day; brother: Albert Day of Menifee County, Kentucky; sisters: Geneva Peeples, and Sylvia Lutes, both of Menifee County, Gladys Fleener of Dearborn County, Indiana, and Betty Reffitt of Franklin, Ohio. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Morgan, Oliver, Stanley, Harley and Clayton Day. Visitation for friends and family is Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Cook Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman, Indiana from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Services begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Murray Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Sunman with military honors provided by Kenneth L. Diver Post # 337 American Legion.
