He was a self employed brick mason and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Buckels; three children, Kimberly Jean Bartig, Rainsville, AL, Basil Leon Buckels and Heather Marie Henderson, both of Chattanooga; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Buckels, Fort Oglethorpe, GA and Edwin Buckels, Valley Head, AL; one sister, Cartha Graves, Bryant, AL; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, West.
