Born in Bloomfield, New Mexico on May 14, 1927. He is the son of Fredrick Walter Gardner Sr. and Olive Marble Gardner. He married Evelyn Nixon Orchard on February 13, 1993.
Fredrick accomplished many wonderful things during his life. He was an avid and accomplished swimmer, swimming instructor, hunter, and fisherman. His true passion was being a gunsmith.
He served many years and blessed many lives as a Scout Master and temple worker. He is a veteran of the Navy, National Guard, and Army Air Corps, and retired from Tooele Army Depot.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick Walter Gardner Sr. and Olive Marble Gardner; wife, Joyce Neil Gardner; one sister, five brothers, and two grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Evelyn Nixon Gardner; children, Mike (Kathy) Gardner, Vicki (Dan) Ivie, Susan (James) Piggott, Stuart (Leslie) Gardner, Frances (Mark) Lay, Charles Gardner, Lori (Jeff) Payne, Steve (Kandis) Orchard, Annie (Kelly) Earley, Michelle (Aaron) Wilcox, and Russ (Jenny) Orchard; sisters, Orva and Kathy; brothers, George, Jimmy, Delano, Delon, and David; fifty-two grandchildren, fifty-two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dignity Hospice and Assisted Living of Draper for the loving care they gave Fredrick.
There will be a viewing held on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road (1700 West), Taylorsville. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., in the LDS Chapel located at 10168 South 1100 West in South Jordan.
