Clifford Henry DeLong, age 81, of Knapp, passed away January 4, 2013 at his home with his son's Michael and Dan at his side.

Clifford was born September 6, 1932 in Eau Galle to Ida DeLong and was adopted at the age of 2 by his Aunt Ella & Uncle Henry DeLong. On October 15, 1955 he married Lorretta Patten in Menomonie at the United Methodist Church.

Cliff worked for John Deere at their Waterloo, Iowa plant for 40 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War.

He enjoyed socializing with family and friends. He was on a pool and bowling league for many years where he got to know so many people which led to close friendships. He enjoyed collecting classic cars, fishing, mowing grass and spending time with his family.

Cliff was a special person and devoted father. He was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Cliff was a joyous man that made lasting impressions on everyone that met him.

Cliff is survived by his children; Patricia Plemon of Gardner, MA, David DeLong of Cheyenne, WY, Michael DeLong of Collins, MS and Daniel (Becky) DeLong of Elmwood, WI, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister Margie Gilboy of Holcombe, WI, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lorretta in 2007 and grandson Torin DeLong.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2013 at Knapp United Methodist Church with Pastor Paul Foulke officiating. Burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery, Twp. Stanton, Dunn Co., WI with military honors by the Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
