Russell Dorsett was born on 1 November 1794, in Chatham Co., North Carolina. He was the son of Solomon Dorsett and Nancy Susannah Duty ( 1761 NC - 1842 Chatham Co., NC). He married Susanah Culberson on 20 September 1814, in Richmond Co., North Carolina. He died on 3 March 1852, at the age of 57, and was buried in Walker Cemetery, La Prairie, Adams Co., Illinois.
