Melanie J. Payne, 45, died at 10 AM Monday, March 1, 2004, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. Born Sept. 13, 1958, in Logansport, she was a lifelong Lafayette resident.

Miss Payne worked aas a manager at Luxury Limo and Action Transport for 18 years. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Lafayette Women's Bowling Association board of directors.

Surviving are her partner, Helen King; two sons, Anthony Payne of Muncie and Joshua Fentanez of Lafayette; her father, Donald Payne of Lafayette; a sister, Donna Rayburn of Frankfort; and a brother, Steven Payne (wife Carla) of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her mother and a sister, Rebecca.

Funeral service March 4 at Hippensteel Chapel, Lafayette, with a March 5 graveside service at Beech Grove Cemetery, Muncie.
