He graduated from Valley View High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps. John lived and worked a majority of his life in Victoria, TX and Yoakum, TX. He was the owner of Switzer Oil Tool Co. for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Switzer, brother, Charles Switzer; and sister, Cora Geraldine Switzer.
