Lee E Elder, homesteader rancher and businessman, passed away Feb 7 at the Mobridge Hospital.

He was born Jan 16, 1891, in Baylis, IL, son of Dele and Susan Elder. Here he grew to manhood. In 1913 he came to TL.

He married Hattie Diehl on Sept 24, 1914. In 1917 they homesteaded on the Grand River. In 1933 they sold the ranch they had moved to north of town, moved into town, and operated the Ford garage for 3 years. He then purchased the Orpheum Theater in TL as well as other theaters in the area.
