Ada M. Barnes, 84, of State College died Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at the Fairways at Brookline.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 25 at S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home (Weaversfh.com), Woodbury.
Interment will be at Bedford Memorial Park.
She was born April 30, 1929, in New Enterprise, daughter of Mearl and Lillian (Koontz) King.
She married Sherman D. Barnes Aug. 9, 1946. He died Dec. 12, 1971.
Survivors include a son, Terry A. Barnes and wife Diane of Port Matilda, Centre County; a brother, Richard King of York; and two grandchildren: Jeffery and Lora Barnes.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Florence Shaffer and Jean Boyd; and two brothers: Arthur King and Donald King.
Mrs. Barnes was employed as a secretary and sales representative for Dibert Mobile Homes, Everett. She retired from Penn State Mobile Homes, State College, after 40 years of service.
She was a member of German Seventy Day Baptist Church, New Enterprise.
Mrs. Barnes spent eight years on the planning commission, 10 years on the sign review board and four years on the park and recreation board, all with Patton Township.
She enjoyed bowling, sewing, crocheting and traveling.
