Ralph E. Stahl, 81, of 77 Fir Hill, died today at Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg after a five-month illness.

In 1960, Mr. Stahl retired as custodian of Concordia Lutheran Church after 28 years service. He was a member of the church and the Akron Republican Club. A leader in Boy Scouts, Stahl had served as treasurer of Troop 57 for over 20 years.

Born in Somerset, Pa., he came to Akron 40 years ago. He previously had worked in Pennsylvania coal mines.

Mr. Stahl leaves wife Mayme B.; daughters Mrs. Anna M. Durst, Acosta, Pa., and Mrs. Alvern H. Keller Sr., and Mrs. Ralph E. Snyder, both of Akron; six grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 7 p. m. Friday at the Eckard-Baldwin funeral home. The body then will be taken to Somerset, Pa., for further services and burial. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
