In the Spring of 1850 the Smith family (John Sivel (41), Jane Wadley (36) Smith + Annie (11) Ellen (8) Elizabeth (5) Eliza Marie (infant) joined the "WILLIAM SNOW" company in Kaneville, Iowa and arrived in Utah on 3 October 1850 (see Heart Throbs of the West, Volume 11, Pages 396-455).

Miss Elizabeth W. Smith, daughter of the late John S. and Jane Smith, died today at the home of her adopted daughter, Mrs. Earl Knight. Death was due to pneumonia following influenza. Miss Smith was born October 6. 1841, at Nauvoo, Ill., and came to Utah in September, 1850. The family settled In Draper, where they lived until April, 1837 when they moved to Kaysville.

Surviving her are four sisters and two brothers, Mrs Ellen Knowlton of Kaysville, Mrs Eliza Stevenson and Mrs Jesse M. Smith of Layton, Mrs Annie Brown of Draper, George Smith of Grace Ida., and William Smith of Mountain View, Alberta, Canada.

MISS ELIZABETH SMITH VICTIM OF INFLUENZA

Miss Elizabeth Smith of Kaysville, for many years president of the Young Ladies' Mutual Improvement Associations of the Davis Stake, died of influenza Monday, at the home of her adopted daughter [Lola] Mrs. Earl Knight of Clearfield. Deceased was born in Nauvoo, Ill., and was the daughter of the late John S. Smith, being 74 years old.
