Born June 13, 1916, in Allen County, he was the son of Herman and Marie Mahler Bechtel. He married Faye Johnson and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Dean of 735 E. Murphy, James of 1033 E. Boyer and Gary of 1035 Summit; a daughter, Karen, at home; a brother, William of 1019 McCullough; two sisters, Mrs. Alta Zink of 141 S. Dewey and Mrs. Effie McConehey of 2113 Idlewild; and seven grandchildren.
Mr. Bechtel operated the Midget Radio Shop for 25 years.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Chiles and Sons - Laman West Wayne Street Chapel, Rev. Willard Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 7 tonight.
