Coleen Allen formerly of Newport News, VA died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 in Hot Springs, AR at the age of 82. Coleen was born January 6, 1931 in Indianola, OK to John and Nellie (Kelton) Vaughan. Coleen grew up in Ulan and Stuart. She attended East Central University in Ada, Ok, graduated with a bachelor degree in elementary education, then taught first and second grade in Newport News, VA for 35 years. She was devoted to her family, enjoyed traveling and was a die-hard OU fan. Coleen is survived by her children, Cherryl Hensley of Hot Springs, AR, Ben Hensley of Redondo Beach, CA, Dennis Allen of Chattanooga, TN, Linda Hensley of Newport News, VA and Bob Rogers of Virginia Beach, VA; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and numerous family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Allen, Jr.; daughter, Betty Marie Rogers; parents, John and Nellie Vaughan and brother, Jerry Vaughan. The Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 6, 2014 at Chaney's Memorial Chapel, McAlester, OK with Rev. Jesse Garcia officiating. Interment will follow at Ulan Cemetery, Indianola, OK.
