He was born September 20, 1931, in Pitt Gas, a son of Samuel J. and Leona Edwards Baer.
Mr. Baer was a 1951 graduate of Jefferson High School and attended Waynesburg College.
During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the battleship USS New Jersey. His tour of duty took him to ports around the world.
Mr. Baer was employed by U.S. Steel Corp. in Clairton and Fairless Hills, before retiring because of a work injury.
He was a member of American Legion Post 391 in Fredericktown.
Mr. Baer enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a self-taught baker who loved to make gingerbread houses, pastries and candies.
On September 20, 1951, he married Phyllis Antil, who survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Linda Benyi and Jean Collins, both of Clarksville, Joan Baer of Casselberry, Fla., and Sharon Kay Sisler of Rices Landing; seven grandchildren, Samantha and David Sisler Jr., Paul B. Whitsell, Samuel Jr., Michael and Daniel Benyi, and Patrick Collins; two greatgrandchildren; a brother, Walter Baer Sr.; eight sisters, Betty Beatty and Leona Devecka, both of Clarksville, Eleanor Vuicich of Bennettsville, S.C., Gladys Kubasik of Levittown, Jean Mysza of Parma, Ohio, Shirley Coss of Waynesburg, Patty Snincak of Fort Mill, S.C., andJanet Foster of Dale City, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a daughter, Brenda Fudala; and a grandson, Corey Gene Collins.
